I’m glad you’re here!

Welcome to Build Lovely, a place where I share about my passion for homemaking, nourishing food, and home centered education. My husband, Jacob, and I, along with our four kids seven and under, recently moved to Nashville, Tennessee from Texas. We are loving the hills and trees!

About Me

I’m a Texas girl, born and raised. Growing up, my dad gave me my love for cooking, and from my mom, my love for the home and family traditions.

I studied hospitality management in college and studied abroad for a summer in Costa Rica. I took classes in professional cooking, accounting, sustainable tourism and events. This education has been a gift in my calling as a homemaker!

Building Our Homes

Proverbs 14:1 states that “A wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.”

Throughout my marriage, I have sought to build my home in the way I steward my time, my husband’s income, and talents. This has included many new skills! The flexibility and necessity at times to learn skills for my family has been such a fun endeavor. I enjoy cooking from scratch, baking sourdough and fresh milled breads, making fermented vegetables, making herbal salves and tinctures, sewing, embroidering, knitting, gardening and chicken tending when we have the space.

I am passionate about nourishing foods, the way God created them to be. We are a raw milk drinking family, and I continue to learn more about how to help support my family’s bodies through nourishment and herbal remedies.

Our family homeschools. I love classical christian education and have taught within this model for 3 years now. In many ways, I’m redeeming my own education through teaching my children classically, which is quite an unexpected blessing!

A few fun facts about me:

  • I have been skydiving… twice!
  • I grew up racing dirtbikes (much to my 7 year old son’s jealousy).
  • I love playing piano.
  • I’ve had 4 unmedicated births, and my last was a home birth!
  • I am a food nerd, and have been known to read food encyclopedias…for fun.

Follow along as I share nourishing meals, DIY projects, valuable traditional skills, herbal remedies, homeschool life, special needs homeschooling, and homemaking encouragement!
